About

So… what does a communications junky want to spend his spare time doing?  Good question. I try to figure that one out daily!family-march-april-09-020

This destination is my attempt to finally capture ideas spurred by everyday life triggers.  I believe our journey is one of adventure, learning, and increase.  The way we live our lives each day affords unique glimpses into human nature, choice, and behavior.  These are the things that fascinate me.

I’ve been a little late in getting into the blog scene. But here I am… lots to learn, share, and pick up from the rest of you.  Look forward to more back and forth in this setting.

My interest is as much in listening to others whisper their insights as it is responding with my reaction.

LITTLE MORE INFO ON ME AND WHY I SEE THE WORLD THE WAY I DO!

Early in my career I chased story-telling. I worked hard to channel my passion to share what I had learned into “the lead” followed by the most important details in classic inverted pyramid style reporting.  I was certain the (probably few thousand at the time!) subscribers to the Las Cruces Sun-News were anxiously awaiting my latest work.

Reporting taught me to dig.

Writing taught me to tell stories.

Later, I moved from journalism to political campaigns and marketing research. I was so excited to realize I could get paid to learn about people, study behavior, and determine what influences the decisions we make in our lives.

Research taught me to listen and observe.

For the last decade-plus I’ve sought to help people talk to other people about the really cool things they’ve created, or the ideas they want to share. The common thread is people.  Watching and studying and listening–both to those who have things to say and those who may want to listen.

I want to find ways to learn together by putting people at the center.  I grabbed the consumercentric.biz domain because the jargon of our industry translates this idea into putting the consumer at the center.  I agree. But let’s start the dialogue by thinking about people experiencing everyday life triggers–not solely existing to consume what companies have to offer.

I’m passionate about digging, listening, and telling stories. And I believe effective marketing should be built on this foundation.
